Beckstrom Electric is pleased to be awarded High School #8 with Christman Construction. Recently named Riverside High School, it is the newest Loudoun County High School and will be located in the Lansdowne community. This is Loudoun's most expensive school to date with a price tag including site acquisition of over $100 million dollars. This project is located on nearly 50 acres between Belmont Ridge Middle School and The National Conference Center. Riverside has several unique challenges for construction. First, there are many wet lands that will be maintained during construction as well as a large section on the school sitting on poor soil. To overcome the poor soil conditions the east section of the school which houses the gyms, locker rooms, admin space and the auditorium had to be built on "stilts". This posed a difficult underground electrical challenge, since the school was being built with the idea that the soil would not support the school so we had to independently support our conduits from the structural slab above. This was done so that if any of the soil was to settle at different elevations it would not affect the installation. This project includes a two 3000 amp switchboards, stage lighting for the Auditorium, and sports lighting for the sports fields and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2015.
